Whenever you seek to correct a vitamin or mineral deficiency, you must recognize that nutrients work synergistically. Certain vitamins and minerals work as catalysts to promote absorption and assimilation of other vitamins and minerals. This is why taking a single vitamin or mineral may be ineffective. A balanced vitamin and mineral supplement should always be taken in addition to any single supplement.(1)

“Because sub optimal vitamin status is associated with many chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer and osteoporosis, it is important for physicians to identify patients with poor nutrition or other reasons for increased vitamin needs.”

VitaMAXe  is a general purpose supplement that combines carefully balanced potencies of all essential vitamins and minerals plus necessary food factors to provide a foundation for any nutritional support program. Higher potencies of the “stress” related nutrients (niacinamide, pantothenic acid, vitamin C and RNA) are used along with citrus bioflavonoids, rutin and hesperidin. Essential food factors, amino acids and digestive support (pancreatin and bile salts) are also included.

Recommended Use: Three capsules daily, one with each meal. With this three capsule formula, dosage may be easily adjusted by taking more or fewer capsules, as needed. Also, the capsules may be opened and the contents mixed into a food or beverage.

Other ingredients: rose hips, ginseng, goldenseal, fo ti teng, gotu kola, watercress, kelp, green cabbage, rice polishings, raw stomach substance (not an extract), alfalfa, parsley, papaya, gelatin. *Daily Value not established.

Research
About 20% of US adults take a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement. While there is strong evidence that supplementing with certain vitamins can reduce the risk birth defects, there is far less compelling evidence that multivitamin and mineral supplements can prevent chronic diseases like coronary heart disease and cancer, reports Urmila R. Parlikar, MS/

The benefits of multivitamin and mineral supplements in reducing the risk of infection have long been debated. Although it is certainly plausible that mild nutrient deficiencies could impair immune function, clinical trials of micronutrient supplements in elderly people—who are vulnerable to nutritional deficiency—have produced conflicting results.

Researchers from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Wake Forest University School of Medicine decided to investigate further. In a paper published in the March 4, 2003 Annals of Internal Medicine, they report that a multivitamin and mineral supplement did in fact reduce the risk of infection, particularly in people with type 2 diabetes.

According to Lindsay Reaves of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, teenagers who take multivitamin supplements on a daily basis tend to have a healthier// lifestyle and diet.

The results published in the December Journal of American Dietetic Association were based on a survey of more than 2500 US high school seniors. They were analyzed for height, weight, behaviors and diet.

The aim of the experiment was to find out if children who did take multivitamin supplements were better off in terms of diet, exercise and other health habits than those who did not.

The study was part of the Child and Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH).
